Friday May 31

 Highlights:

• We did art today. We got to draw different flowers and then trace them using oil pastels. On Monday we will get to paint them with water colour paint :) 
• In gym we played Gaga Ball!
• The grade 2 music club students had their performance today!

Thursday May 30

 Highlights:

• In math we practiced writing and drawing fractions
• Literacy centres. Ask me what centre I was in 
• In music we watched the musical "Matilda"
• In gym we played a game called "Boom city." Ask me how to play! 
• In writing we continued our worm research. Today we wrote about interesting facts and why they are important to the earth
• Word work. Ask me what we did!

• Tomorrow is the Grade 2 music club performance at 12:45. If you are child is in music club there was an email sent out with details :) 

Wednesday May 29

 Highlights:

• In writing we wrote about what we wanted to be when we grow up. Ask me what I wrote! 
• Literacy centres. Ask me what I did! 
• We got to go on Chrome music lab 
• We practiced drawing fractions 
• We made our own bookmarks! 
• In social we labelled the buffalo 
• We got to share our "what we want to be when we grow up" outfits

Tuesday May 28

 Highlights:

• In writing we started writing about worms. Ask me what I wrote! 
• In math we started our fraction unit. Ask me to draw an example of 1/2.
• In gym we did an all sports challenge. For basketball we got to play with dodgeballs.

• In social we talked about Calgarys past. We learned about the buffalo and then we drew a picture of one!

Monday May 27

 Highlights:

• In writing we continued our research about worms. We all got to read different worm books on Epic! Ask me what I learned. 
• In music we learned a new song from "Matilda"
• In gym we played an all sports challenge. 
• In math we learned about shape transformations. Then we practiced these transformations using the first letter of our name. 
• We did our daily Spellie
• Literacy centres. Ask me what I did!

 Highlights:

• We had music sharing today!
• We finished our landscape dioramas today. Then we got to share them with the other Grade 2 class. They were so impressed! 
• We got to do a spring robot art hub! 
• We did our daily Spellie

HIGHLIGHTS:

- In math we continued learning about symmetry. We got to make a symmetrical butterfly!

Wednesday May 22

 Highlights:

• In gym we played a pickleball game with bowling pins 
• In writing we read the story "what makes us unique" and we had a sharing circle to share about our different cultures and families with each other. Then we made a 4 square planner about the clothes, food, traditions, and other facts about our cultures 
• We all shared about the clothing and artifacts that we had today to celebrate our cultures 
• In math we learned about symmetry. We worked with a partner and we had to make different creations using shapes. Then our partner had to copy it
• In music we learned about other languages. We listened to music from our countries
